On May 21 and 22, the NB Fullbore Section hosted the first RNBRA Open Team Match. The match drew competitors from NB, NS, Quebec and Ontario, with 7 teams on Saturday and 6 teams on Sunday. It was a great mix of seasoned and new shooters. For some, this was their first team competition, first time shooting at 900m or first time shooting period! Due to some last minute cancellations, not everyone had a full 4-person team. The goal of this match was to have a fun weekend, so we decided to be flexible in the scoring. In the results below, you will see "scaled" aggregates. If a competitor had to withdraw from a relay, their average score was used. If a team had 3 shooters, the relay aggregate was scaled by a factor of 1.33.
First Place in Target Rifle went to Quebec Bisley with a score of 581-53V out of a possible 600-120V: Emmanuel Gauvin, Jacques Dugas, Nicole Rossignol and Gale Stewart. First Place in F-TR went to the Stars Team with a (scaled) score of 799-51V out of a possible 900-180V: Ken Kyle, Dan Cormier, Gord Holloway, Dick Platt (600m) and Nicole Langer (900m).
There were three perfect strings on Sunday: Nicole Rossignol: 75-7V at 900m Adam MacDonald: 75-12V at 800m BJ Nicholson: 75-6V at 800m First Place in Target Rifle again went to Quebec Bisley with a score of 582-47V out of a possible 600-120V: Emmanuel Gauvin, Jacques Dugas, Nicole Rossignol and Gale Stewart. First Place in F-TR went to FTR Bisley with a score of 844-59V out of a possible 900-180V: Ken Kyle, Harrison Brown, Gord Holloway and Adam MacDonald. Congrats to both teams and good luck in Bisley! Lunch both days was sandwiches prepared by Sobeys, with snacks provided by the Fullbore Section and water graciously donated by Ken & Deirdre Kyle (thank you!). Saturday night's dinner was attended by 24 competitors at Isaac's Way in Fredericton. All competitors received a custom made .308 hat clip by Bite the Bullet. Thanks to everyone who helped with set up and tear down (especialy our out-of-town guests)! It was a great weekend, thanks in part to everyone in attendance being patient, kind and supportive. I hope to see you all at future matches. Thanks again!
~Laura, Match Director Please note that the Maintenance Day at Batouche (previously scheduled for April 30) has been postponed. Our first match of the season will be the Fredericton Centennial at St-Antoine on Saturday May 7. Hope to see you there!
Who's ready to get back on the range?!? Our 2022 schedule has been confirmed for all events except the PRS dates at Enniskillen. We are working to get those events confirmed soon. Thanks for your understanding. In the meantime, check out the 2022 Schedule; we even have a few new matches to get excited about. On Victoria Day weekend (May 21-22), we are running the first RNBRA Open Team Match - open to anyone. Prizes will be available for both days in TR and F/TR. (F-Open pending 2 or more teams register.) Distances will be 600/800/900m. If you've never shot a team match before, this will be a great first event. In September, Gord is running a new 155 match at Batouche. Details will be coming later this summer, but keep your calendars open on Sept. 24. We have five matches schedule at St-Antoine! The first is the Fredericton Centennial on May 7. Ken and Ron always do a great job running these matches and all are welcome. The NB Annual Prize Meet is June 26-27. A lot of matches and a lot of prizes are jam-packed into this busy weekend, including the oldest continuously awarded trophy in Canada - the Prince of Wales Cup. Registration is required for this match. So dust off those shooting mats and check your equipment! Grab some ammo and don't forget your bolt! First event is April 30 at Batouche Range! See you there! ~Laura
The 2021 Atlantic Championships were held at Bull Meadow Range in Nova Scotia from September 4-6. Thank you to Evangeline for preparing the results.
2021 Intermaritime Team Match On Saturday August 28, the RNBRA Fullbore Section hosted the Annual Intermaritime Team Match at St-Antoine. The Intermaritime Trophy was first awarded in 1886 and is traditionally competed for by 8-man teams from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and PEI with 7 shots on record at 300, 500 and 600m. This year PEI was unable to enter an official team, so we invited Quebec to come. The "Invitee Team" was composed of 4 competitors from Quebec and 4 from New Brunswick. It was a gorgeous day on the beautifully well-maintained St-Antoine range. The sun was shining and the wind was blowing. Ron and Ken even pulled out the old chalkboard scoreboards that Ron claimed were from the 1930s. New Brunswick performed well, winning every distance and the entire match by 24 points. Nova Scotia came in second, but tied NB in V-count in every relay. The Invitees finished a strong third, losing to NS in the second and third relays only by V-count. Not too bad considering this was the first team match for several team members.
What a wonderful weekend of competition! Yes, the weather could have behaved better, but it was so much fun to see old friends and new faces at the 2021 NB APM held at Batouche Range on July 17 & 18. We welcomed 21 competitors on day 1 and 19 competitors on day 2 from NB, NS and Quebec.
Registration is now open for the 2021 NB Annual Prize Meet on July 17 & 18 at Batouche Range.
