On Saturday June 25 and Sunday June 26, the RNBRA Fullbore Section held their Annual Prize Meet at Batouche Range on 5 CDSB Gagetown. 23 competitors from NB, NS, PEI and Quebec shot 8 different matches and competed for 8 trophies, plus the MacDonald Stewart Grand Aggregate. This is always a very fun, but very busy match and it can get complicated. I'll try to break down the matches as best as I can. Also, apologies for not having any action shots on the line. If anyone has any photos they'd like to share, you can send them to [email protected].  Saturday June 25 If I had to choose one word to describe Saturday: HOT! And I didn't even have to wear a TR jacket! The schedule called for 5 matches to be shot at 300 and 600m. However, with the sun beating down relentlessly on everyone all day and nothing but a meager wisp of a breeze every now and then, the whole group was feeling sweaty and groggy. The Match Committee (consisting of one rep from each province) decided the final match of the day would be moved to Sunday.
Sunday June 26 What's another word for hot? That would describe Sunday. Match 4a - Al Lockett aka Governor General Stage 1 was held first thing Sunday morning at 800m (instead as originally scheduled for Saturday at 600m). FTR shot first relay to switch it up from Saturday and because there was a bit of fog in the early morning, which would have been challenging for TR. Target Rifle also elected to shoot 10+2, while FTR and FO shot the traditional 15+2 for this match only. Other matches proceeded as scheduled. There was a slight breeze and competitors reported a quick-moving mirage during the matches.
Aggregate Prizes
Congratulations to all competitors! There were 11 different first place winners in 2022! Excellent shooting all around and a great turnout to Batouche. Thanks to everyone who came out and especially those who helped organize and run the match. Hope to see you all at the next one! ~ Laura
